Course Overview

Develop the skills to build a robust and structured web-site using HTML, Dreamweaver and Photoshop

The course takes students from evaluation of client and user needs to building robust modern websites – working with text, paragraphs and tables to building multi-page responsive grid-based layouts using style sheets, layers, templates and libraries.

 

This course is validated by Griffith College. This course focuses on the development of professional skills and does not sit on the national framework.

The Professional Certificate in Web Design & Development is conducted on a part-time basis over 12-weeks. This course is suited to individuals who wish to develop a website including professional designers familiar with DTP or Graphics software and who need to get to grips with this powerful web design tool. 

  • You will apply user research and analysis to discover creative solutions for design challenges as pertains to the world wide web.
  • You will learn to build a multi-frame layout using style sheets and introduces layers, templates and libraries.
  • You will use grids in design to communicate an Information architecture, that focuses on user interface, experience design as well as storytelling and creating empathy in website design.
  • You will master innovative software tools crucial for web design including HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  • Apply UI and UX design principles to make a website both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Articulate how a web page is organised to allow elements to be accessed regardless of the programming language used with reference to the role of front-end versus back-end and server-side technologies.
  • You will gain an awareness of web publishing best practices including SEO and meta data.

How to Apply

Entry Requirements

Proficient in the use of MAC/MS Applications.

It is recommended that applicants have a good understanding of both written and spoken English.

Directly to Griffith College 

Applicants under 23 years of age:

Minimum 5 O6s/H7s in the Irish Leaving Certificate or equivalent award
Or
FETAC Level 5 Full Award         

Applicants over 23:

Direct Entry - If you are 23 years or over from the 1st January of this year, you can apply for this course directly using the College’s online application form.
