Develop key life skills essential for Mindfulness Practice and a wide range of other professions

The Certificate in Mindfulness Theories & Practice is delivered by the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences (ICHAS) and has been specifically designed for those who want to understand the conceptual basis for the practice of Mindfulness. It is designed as an Introductory 6 week programme which will give students the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to understand and apply the principles of mindfulness either personally or within psychotherapeutic practice.

This part-time Certificate in Mindfulness Theories & Practice is designed for those who wish to extend their knowledge with Key Facets of Mindfulness; eg, observing (attending to or noticing internal and external stimuli, such as sensations, emotions, cognitions, sights, sounds, and smells), describing (noting or mentally labelling these stimuli with words)

  • Students will gain practical experience in all Mindfulness Theories & Practice which they can later be applied both personally and professionally.
  • Students will learn key life skills including understanding the concept of acting with awareness, non-judging of inner experience, non-reactivity to inner experience.
  • Classes conducted on a part-time basis, comprising of one evening a week for 6 weeks.
  • Small class sizes ensure that you get the one-on-one attention needed to perfect your Mindfulness skills.
  • Participants have the option to apply for further higher-level studies in related fields.
  • Upon successful completion of the programme, you will obtain 5 ECTS credits on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). This module is 5 credits from the BA (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy with ICHAS College which is a QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) validated programme.

Progression

Academic Progression 

The Certificate in Mindfulness Theories & Practice is a 5 Credit (ECTS) module from the BA (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy degree programme offered at the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences (ICHAS). Because it comprises a Module from a QQI validated programme, those students who take the Module and successfully undertake the associated Assessment will be eligible to apply for exemptions for the Module if they apply to undertake the B.A (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy Studies degree programme. Further Details on this are available from the relevant Programme Co-ordinator or the College’s Admissions team.

Career Progression 

Graduates of the Certificate Mindfulness Theories & Practice will have a good basis for professional progression in the field of Mindfulness and will have developed key life skills that can be applied freely to other professions.
