Barra is a lecturer in Employment Law and Constitutional Law. He is a practising Barrister at Law in Dublin, the Eastern Circuit and before the Superior Courts. In addition to advocacy work, his experience includes adjudication, mediation, legal drafting, research, scrutinising legislation, drafting legal opinions, negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, contract read and review, lease read and review, lecturing, tutoring and document discovery. A Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, Barra worked in all areas of commercial and residential property for 20 years before coming down to the Bar. Barra has lectured in a number of legal and property-related courses at Dublin City University, TU Bolton Street (formerly DIT) and Griffith College. Barra is also a Board Member of the Valuation Tribunal, a Voluntary Advisor for Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) and secretary of the Construction Bar Association (CBA).
