Biography

James Buckley is one of our part-time staff whose main professional role is as a practising barrister. He was called to the Irish Bar in the first call of the Trinity Term in 2007, and having commenced his practice as general practitioner, quickly became particularly known for acting in matters concerning judicial review and administrative law and continues to act in cases in that context before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. His speciality is in Immigration Law and International Protection (otherwise known as "Asylum Law"). He is an accredited mediator since 2009, and has also practiced in that field. He has taught a diverse range of subjects within the Law Faculty since he was first employed in the college in 2009; and his undergraduate degree from Trinity College which he completed in 2003, was in Biblical and Theological Studies and Classical Civilisation.
