Lana teaches radio news to first and second year students at Griffith College.
On her love of teaching, Lana says;
"I am very passionate about radio and I aim to instil that passion through my teaching. I treat students the same way I teach new members of staff in my newsroom so the training they are getting is much more than text book learning. This will give them the edge when they graduate and take their first steps in journalism."
In her early radio career, Lana worked as duty desk editor for Cork’s 96FM and then later for Dublin's FM104, first as a senior broadcast news journalist and then as news editor.
In 2001, she set up the news department at Cork’s newest radio station – RedFM. Shortly after this, she won a national radio award and was named News Broadcaster of the Year - an award previously given to Pat Kenny.
Over her fifteen years at the helm, her voice has become synonymous with Cork’s RedFM and her work behind the scenes and on the air has resulted in the station becoming the most listened to radio station in Cork.
As well as having a stellar career in commercial radio, Lana was a columnist for the Evening Echo for over four years.
