Griffith College is proud to once again support the National Student Media Awards 2026, taking place at Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin, on Wednesday 29th April.

Often referred to as “the Oscars for students,” the SMEDIAS continue to spotlight the very best in third-level journalism, broadcasting, and digital media from colleges and universities across Ireland. The awards have built a reputation as a launchpad for future media professionals, with many past winners going on to successful careers in the industry.

Griffith College has a strong tradition of success at the SMEDIAS, reflecting the talent and dedication of its students. A standout moment from recent years includes the incredible achievement of Bartira Augelli, a student of the MA in Journalism & Digital Communications programme, who secured wins in both categories she was nominated for—Journalist of the Year (National Media) and the EPA Award for Journalism Relating to the Environment.

As we look ahead to SMEDIAS 2026, Griffith College is delighted to continue supporting an initiative that aligns so closely with our commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals. Events like these not only celebrate student achievement but also provide invaluable opportunities for exposure, experience, and career progression.

We extend the very best of luck to all students nominated this year and look forward to celebrating their achievements.
