Biography

Ruhi is the Programme Director for Postgraduate Law. Ruhi previously worked as a module leader at the University of Limerick. As part of that role, she delivered a variety of modules such as Criminal Justice, Criminal procedure, Introduction to Irish Legal Systems, Law and Justice, Criminology, Law of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Research Ethics, and Research Integrity, across undergraduate, postgraduate and masters programmes.

She recently defended her PhD titled, ‘How legal, economic, and political factors have influenced regionalist endeavours, and what approaches are the most serviceable for the future of regionalism in a globalised world?’

Her research interests lie in the intersection between economics and law, ranging from the study of jurisprudence and criminology to regional trade associations such as the EU, ASEAN, and USMCA, multilateral organisations like the WTO, and UN, and the role of economics in determining the viability of regionalism vs multilateralism. She is also interested in the transforming modalities of life, given the ever-transforming impact of emergent technologies on our lives. She is intrigued by the range of legislation being introduced by the EU on digital services, markets, and artificial intelligence.

She recently co-authored an article that was published in the Irish Law Times titled, The Digital Services Act and Vulnerability’ (2023).

Outside of academics, Ruhi enjoys cooking and baking. She is also a keen knitter and crocheter.
