Studying abroad is a fantastic way to expand your horizons, gain new skills, and enrich your learning experience at Griffith College.
Your first step is to contact the Global Engagement Office by sending an email to mobility@griffith.ie . Please include your student number in your email so we can quickly check your eligibility and advise you about what opportunities might be available for your programme and Faculty.
Griffith College encourages outward mobility, where possible, as a way to enhance your personal and academic development. Each Faculty supports students going abroad where it contributes positively to your learning experience and helps you meet your core programme outcomes.

Erasmus+ Mobility: BIP Sustainability in Global Business at the University of Zaragoza (Spain)

Meet KarlTell us about your Erasmus+ MobilityI went to Zaragoza, Spain in March 2026. It was a great experience, very good weather. It was for one week. I flew to Madrid, spent the weekend there, got the train to Zaragoza and at the end of the week got the bus to Barcelona and flew back from there! So I got to see three different cities in Spain. 
It was a programme about Sustainability in so many different ways. We had lectures from different universities, from Norway, from Belgium, from Spain and from Ireland obviously with Jacqui Tracey who went with us on the programme. It was really cool having so many different teachers teaching us different things and having all these perspectives in a short period of time. I really enjoyed that we had a lot of group work during the week, so we got to work with students from the different countries; we worked on the United Nations and the 17 Sustainable development goals and other very interesting themes. It was so interesting to see how different lecturers teach in different countries in different styles. Being in a classroom with new people and all being from different backgrounds, it really helps you with your communication skills as well. I got to make new friends with the people on the programme, from Norway, from Belgium, and from Spain and people from Spain obviously could show us around the city which was really nice. We also got to try treats from different countries! At the weekends, I got to see Real Madrid and Barcelona play which was super cool. Big stadiums! |
What made you apply?
It felt like such an amazing opportunity! I also wanted to test myself! An opportunity to try something different. I remember I spoke to my dad about it and he said “well if you don’t at least try then what are you doing?!” Also I like Spain, I studied Spanish in school and so I thought this would be a great opportunity to practice the language as well. And then being accepted on the programme and going to Spain, that just made me feel like I wanted to push myself further and work harder to do more of these things. I think it just shows you that if you open yourself up to opportunities, you might experience some really cool things. |

What would you say to another student who is considering applying to an Erasmus+ Mobility?It’s a no-brainer! You get to see another country, to go to a new school, you get to hear from new lecturers and you get to meet new friends! And maybe get better weather as well! You don’t often get such opportunities so if you do and it’s on the table, you should go for it, definitely! I hope people get to do this more! We go to the same college for so many years and there for one week you get to be in a new environment, different cultures and approaches; it’s cool. It’s a big thing. If you immerse yourself in different cultures, new food new art new music, everything, and you fully embrace it, try to experience it, that’s I think how you grow the most as a person. I wanted to experience this, this is the type of experience that makes your life colourful: you try different things! And if you have an opportunity to go study in Spain for a week why would you miss it?
