The LSMD are Proud to Support Young Voices at the National Secondary Schools Debating Competition

The Leinster School of Music & Drama were delighted to be involved in this year’s National Secondary Schools Debating Competition, held in collaboration with the Law Faculty at Griffith College. The event was a brilliant showcase of the insight, passion, and eloquence of secondary school students, who tackled challenging topics with skill, confidence, and maturity beyond their years.
The final featured a thrilling debate between Coláiste Íde and Ardgillan College, with Coláiste Íde ultimately taking home the title. Congratulations to both teams for their outstanding performances!
We were especially proud to see our Programme Director, Suzanne Binley, take part in the event as a member of the judging panel. Her expertise in public speaking and performance was a valuable addition to the day, and a fitting reflection of The LSMD’s commitment to nurturing articulate and confident communicators.
As part of this commitment, The LSMD are proud to offer Public Speaking and Effective Communication exam opportunities to the winners, the finalists, the recipient of the Best Essay award, and the winner of Best Rebuttal. We hope this experience will support their continued growth in speaking with clarity, confidence, and impact.
We were honoured to support such a valuable initiative and are already looking forward to being involved again in the future.
