Joe Duffy Honoured with Distinguished Fellowship from Griffith College

Joe Duffy Receiving Award at Griffith College Dublin

Joe Duffy has been honoured by Griffith College with a Distinguished Fellowship Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Irish public service broadcasting.

The award was presented at a ceremony held at Griffith College Dublin on November 4, 2025.

As one of Ireland’s most familiar voices, Joe Duffy has been a central figure in national broadcasting for decades. As the presenter of RTE Radio One's "Liveline" programme for 27 years, he provided a respected and empathetic space for people in Ireland to have their voices heard, and for social issues to be addressed and advanced.

In presenting the award, Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, President of Griffith College, praised Duffy’s enduring impact on Irish media.

“We are delighted to confer this Distinguished Fellowship Award on Joe Duffy,” he said. “Joe is synonymous with the best traditions of radio broadcasting. His commitment to public service has given a voice to Irish people for many decades; in doing so, he has made a significant contribution to the national debate.”
