Lord Mayor of Cork Holds Reception in Cork City Hall to Mark GC50 and 25 years of Griffith College in Cork


The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Kieran McCarthy, held a reception in Cork City Hall on Tuesday, April 2nd, to mark GC50 and 25 years of Griffith College in Cork. Staff and colleagues from our campuses in Dublin, Limerick, and Cork attended the event.

Representatives of the Sisters of Charity in Cork, Cork Chamber, Network Cork, MTU, UCC and Fáilte Eireann were also in attendance.

It was a special evening, with speeches from Cllr Kieran McCarthy and Professor Diarmuid Hegarty celebrating Griffith College's rich history in Cork.

The event is part of GC50, a series of initiatives to mark Griffith College’s fiftieth anniversary in 2024. Founded in 1974 by Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, Griffith College enjoys a national and international reputation for student success. Many alumni have gone on to distinguished careers in fields as diverse as accountancy, business, computing, design, engineering, law, politics and media.
