Rachael Blackmore Receives Professional Excellence Award from Griffith College
Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup–winning jockey Rachael Blackmore has received Griffith College’s Professional Excellence Award for her outstanding contribution to Irish sport.
The presentation took place at the college’s Dublin campus on November 5, 2025, as part of its annual graduation ceremonies.
Blackmore’s remarkable achievements have firmly established her as one of Ireland’s most celebrated sports figures. Her historic victories include winning the Grand National, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and being named leading jockey at the Cheltenham Festival - milestones that have inspired a generation of athletes and sports fans alike.
Presenting the award, Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, President of Griffith College, praised Blackmore’s exceptional career and influence.
“Rachael Blackmore is one of Ireland’s sporting legends,” he said. “Her record of achievement over the past decade has been recognised nationally and internationally. Rachael is a role model for what can be achieved when talent and dedication merge.”

The Professional Excellence Award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to professional and/or educational development at a national level in Ireland. Previous recipients include Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon, Journalist and Entrepreneur Mark Little, and GAA Commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh.
