The international event, The Global Game Jam, will take place at Microsoft Ireland between Friday 25 and Sunday 27 January.

Eoin Carroll, a Griffith College Computing lecturer, is the overall European co-ordinator for the event and says, “The Global Game Jam is a wonderful weekend of experimentation, building inventive games around a global theme.”

The “Jam”, which is run entirely by volunteers is considered a ‘hackathon’ for game development. The event takes place at a number of physical locations across the world and will see participants have 48 hours to design and create games based on the universal theme.

Co-ordinator Eoin Carroll said, “The Global Game Jam is a great way to see what you can make is a short time with limited resources. It puts assignment deadlines into perspective; after the GGJ a 2-week assignment will seem like a luxury.”

Please note, Global Game Jam 2019 is entirely sold-out and the public will not be granted access to the event.
