Biography

Fergal joined Griffith College Cork as a lecturer in early 2019 after a number of years working in the Disability Support Services of the Munster Technological University (MTU) and also previously University College Cork (UCC). In addition, Fergal spent several years lecturing in both the MTU and UCC, and more recently with Griffith College Limerick (GCL).

Fergal is close to completing a doctorate in computer science under the supervision of Prof. Conor Ryan of the University of Limerick (UL) within its BSD research group, which is in the Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) Department in UL and is also part of Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Institute.

Fergal has published several conference and journal articles in the areas of machine learning and optimisation. He became the Programme Director of the Computing Faculty in Griffith College Cork in the summer of 2021 and hopes to nurture the Cork faculty's continuing growth in terms of both students and staff, to maintain its high academic standards, and to instil a passion and lifelong enthusiasm in its students for the ever-evolving and expanding field of computer science.
