Professional Summary
Nicholas McMurry is Programme Director for the Faculty of Law in Griffith College Cork. He is a human rights scholar with a PhD from the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the University of Galway. He is the author of "Participation and Democratic Innovation under International Human Rights Law", published by Routledge in 2023.
Academic and Professional Background
Nicholas has worked professionally in research, advocacy and education since 2011. He is a founding partner of Shared Insight, and has carried out socio-legal research and advocacy for the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, the Mandaean Human Rights Group, and Respond! Housing Agency, EIL Intercultural Learning and Cork City Council.
Teaching, Research, or Leadership Focus
Nicholas has experience in teaching at the master's and undergraduate levels at the University of Galway and Griffith College and has tutored at University College Cork. His areas of teaching include international human rights law, jurisprudence, European law, asylum law and international trade.

He is a member of an international working group on the right to participation for persons experiencing forced displacement or statelessness.
