A Journey Through Time
Griffith College opens its historic South Circular Road campus to the public in celebration of Culture Night 2025, offering a rare chance to explore its storied past - from its origins as Richmond Bridewell to its time as Wellington Barracks, and ultimately becoming the vibrant educational campus it is today.
This year, the College is offering a tour of the historic campus - highlighting the buildings, the personalities, and the stories embedded within its walls. Whether you’re a history buff, a local curious about your city’s transformations, or someone who simply loves a good story, there’s something here for everyone.
What to Expect
- Key history of the campus: from its function as a prison and military barracks to its reinvention as Griffith College.
- Walk through history: Trace the footsteps of historical figures like Daniel O’Connell and the 1916 Rising detainees, all while absorbing the architectural and cultural evolution of the site
- Local insider experience: Hosted at the heart of Dublin 8, this event is a wonderful opportunity for both locals and visitors to connect with the city’s heritage.
