Course Details

The Creative Process (10 ects.)

The Creative Process aims to introduce learners to the craft of directing. From improvisation and storytelling to text and technique, the module covers the basic principles required to work with different age groups on a wide range of materials, including the creation of an original piece of devised theatre.

This certificate is divided into 3 sections.

Topic 1: Deals with improvisation techniques, the structuring of a story and character development.
Topic 2: explores the devising process.
Topic 3: moves to text-based work, applying the basic principles of directing, from text analysis to staging. We will focus on prescribed texts from the New LSMD Speech, Drama and Communication syllabi.

The assessment strategy for the is certificate has a practical and participative focus. Learners also engage in reflective practice and writing through the Process Folio an Integrated Programme Assessment piece (IPA).
