Overview

As part of the HECA Healthy Campus 2025/26 Webinar Series and to mark World Mental Health Day, this webinar will explore how students and staff in higher education can manage loneliness and build resilience across personal, professional, and educational contexts.

In today’s fast-paced and highly connected world, many individuals experience increasing levels of isolation despite constant digital communication. This session will consider how to recognise and respond to these challenges while developing strategies to foster authentic connection and personal wellbeing.
 

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Explore the experience and impact of loneliness within higher education.
  • Examine approaches to building personal and collective resilience.
  • Identify supports and strategies that promote wellbeing and balance across life domains.
  • Reflect on ways to enhance interpersonal connections in digital environments.

Martin Nunan
Student Support Lead, Psychotherapist & Career Guidance Practitioner

Martin has extensive experience in student wellbeing, psychotherapy, and career guidance. His professional background includes over two decades working in disability, health, and education sectors in both Ireland and the United States. Martin’s work focuses on supporting students in navigating personal and academic challenges, developing resilience, and maintaining a healthy balance in their lives.
