Supporting Student Well-Being: CPD Event for Guidance Counsellors at Griffith College

CPD Event for Guidance Counsellors

Griffith College's Schools Liaison Team, in collaboration with the Psychology Faculty, will host a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event for secondary school guidance counsellors on April 4th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Griffith College Dublin, South Circular Rd campus.

Facilitated by Dr. Kristin Finkbeiner and Dr. Mary Quirke, who teach on our BA (Hons) in Psychology, the session will explore key mental health topics relevant to students facing life transitions.

The topic area for the session is Mental Health at Times of Transition, focusing on how life changes affect students. Some of the sub-topics include Uncertainty, Anxiety vs. Stress, Your Brain on Stress, Social Media and the Brain, Stress Toolbox, Radical Acceptance, Self-Efficacy and Self-Advocacy, and Self-Care.

This half-day event offers practical insights and tools to help guidance counsellors better support students during challenging times. It also provides a chance to exchange ideas with peers and reflect on approaches to student well-being.
