BA in Film and TV Lecturer Wins Literary Prize

Congratulations to BA in Film and TV Production lecturer in Production & Direction - Sonya Gildea - who won the Cúirt New Writing Prize for Fiction 2015 and will be speaking at the festival which opened in Galway yesterday.

Sonya Gildea was born in County Cork, Ireland. She lives and works in Dublin, Ireland and the east coast of Scotland. She is writing the poetry collection Apothecary; the short story collection, Heartscapes; and the debut novel, The Hours That God Sends. She has also received a number of awards for screenwriting.

The Cúirt New Writing Prize is sponsored by Tig Neachtain in memory of Lena Maguire. Sonya Gildea will receive cash prize of €500. She will also have the opportunity to read during the festival at the Cúirt/Over the Edge Showcase event tomorrow, which takes place at the Galway Town hall.
