Across 30–31 January, Griffith College Dublin became a gathering point for bold voices in genre cinema as the Imbolg: Women Who Terrify Film Festival lit up our auditorium screen with work by women who unsettle, challenge, and mesmerize both on screen and behind the camera.
Timed to coincide with the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolg, the programme served as a powerful marker of renewal, celebrating new beginnings, creative fire, and stories that defy convention. In partnership with Film Ireland and the Creative Arts and Screen Media faculty at Griffith College, the festival delivered a jam-packed line-up that championed daring filmmaking, distinctive perspectives, and fearless storytelling.
Across screenings, talks, and informal conversations, the festival fostered a palpable sense of community, bringing together filmmakers, audiences, and creatives in a shared space of curiosity and exchange.
With its striking programme and thoughtful curation, Imbolg: Women Who Terrify reaffirmed the vital role festivals play in amplifying underrepresented voices and carving out space for work that dares to disturb and delight in equal measure.
