We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of renowned Irish opera singer, Veronica Dunne. Veronica was an inspiration to her students who were lucky to have studied under her tutelage in the Leinster School of Music and Drama, Technological University Dublin (formerly Dublin Institute of Technology) and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

In recent years Griffith College’s President, Diarmuid Hegarty, came to know Veronica well through his role as Chair of The Friends of the Vocal Arts, which runs the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition. Veronica was a highly respected figure in Irish opera and will be sorely missed. Her huge legacy will live on through her voice, teaching and in the enthusiasm and love for opera that she instilled in her students. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
