Our photography students' dominated the photography categories this year, Kate Swift winning News Photographer of the Year and Juliana Falange named Photographer of the Year!

Triumph for Photography Students at Annual SMEDIA Awards

Griffith College BA in Photographic Media students swept the board in two of the three photography categories at this year’s SMEDIA Awards.

News photographer of the year went to Kate Swift with her project, ‘Lost Soles’. A story of “loss, displacement and the livelihood of the local fishing community in Bulloch Harbour”.

While Photographer of the Year was awarded to Juliana Falange. 

Stiff competition

Both Juliana and Kate were up against students from college and universities such as, University College Cork, Limerick School of Art and Design, Dun Laoghaire FEI and Pearse College.
