Transition Year Introduction to Law Programme “Great Success”

Transition Year Introduction to Law Programme

Karen Sutton visited James Street CBS last week to present a group of Transition Year students with certificates of participation for the TY Introduction to Law Programme.

Karen, head of the Law Faculty at Griffith College, was accompanied by Schools Liaison Officer Sinead O’Callaghan and ran the pilot programme with local school James’ Street. Twenty TY students completed the six-week programme, gaining insight into the Irish legal system. The young people were interested in particular areas and cases such as Brexit's effects on Ireland, a defamation case surrounding Burger King and the recent Ana Kriegel case.

Speaking of the initiative, Karen said, “The Law Faculty’s Transition Year Programme is aimed at increasing Transition Year students' awareness of the law and careers within the legal sector. We were delighted to work with the students of CBS James St. who were a pleasure to teach and we hope to have awoken an interest in the law and a desire to discover career opportunities in law, which may await them in the future”.
