Course Details
Introduction to BIM (5 ECTS) Outline:
This module enables the learner to develop basic skills in Building Information Modelling (BIM). Within the module, learners are facilitated (learning by doing) to develop the skills to construct basic 3D models of the built environment and interiors, including lighting. In completing the model, learners research and select appropriate products, materials and fittings using their understanding of technology and professional standard specifications gained though the programme.
Advanced BIM (5 ECTS) Outline: Learners develop advanced skills in Building Information Modelling (BIM). This module builds on the technical and computer application skills developed by the learner in Introduction to BIM, further supporting their engagement with BIM projects.

How to Apply
Entry Requirements
- Applicants to the programme must meet normal QQI requirements, Level 6 or equivalent, award on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Applicants who are over the age of 23 may apply on the basis of previous work experience and a demonstration of commitment to further education.
- Applicants under the age of 23 are required to meet the entry requirements by holding a Leaving Certificate result of five subjects at grade O6/H7 (which include a minimum of grade O6/H7 in English or Irish and grade O6/H7/F2 in Mathematics), or equivalent qualification.
All applications involving the consideration of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) or Accredited Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) are managed by the college’s APL/APEL committee in accordance with the Griffith College Quality Assurance & Enhancement Procedures 2024/25 – Recognition of Prior Learning Procedure.
English Language
All learners are required to be proficient in English. Where an applicant’s mother tongue is not English, they are required to provide proof of proficiency in the English language through satisfactory performance on an internationally recognised test.
The English language entry requirements for the programme are CEF B2+ or equivalent. Candidates with English below this standard must first reach this minimum standard.
