Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Griffith College VPN
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a method of securing communications between your computer and another network. When you use the College VPN, your Internet traffic is routed through the College’s Internet link.
Why use a VPN?
A VPN is a secure way for you to access the College network from home, a business trip, a conference or other non-work locations using the public Internet. It may also provide access to College resources normally inaccessible from outside of the College’s network.
It helps not only hide passwords from an eavesdropper but also provides a degree of privacy, since it hides the content of your data.
The College’s chosen VPN client is integrated with our staff Single Sign-On so it gives ease of use for authentication purposes.
If you are travelling abroad and require access to the College network contact IT Services on 01-4150499, or email the Help Desk a week in advance. You'll be asked to bring your laptop in to have our VPN client installed and configured.
