Moodle and Online Resources

Whether you are a new or returning student, we recommend that you check out our information resources available through Moodle. You will now be able to do your coursework more quickly, more thoroughly, and with more up to date and relevant information.

We have a range of video tutorials and support material available to guide you during you time with us.  On the Academic Writing and Research Skills section of our Library Moodle page you will find information on referencing styles, academic writing and guides on how you can best use a range of software to assist you in your studies and assignments.

We update these resources on a regular basis so do keep an eye out for all new developments. The information world changes and we change too, throughout the year.

Library Catalogue

Use the library catalogue to search for books, language materials, music manuscripts and more.

Students are encouraged to make use of the catalogue to search through the resources of the library and to be proactive in sourcing their own material, but please remember the issue desk staff are always there to help and offer support and advice.

There is a dedicated OPAC computer located beside the photocopiers,

E Books

Ebooks are becoming increasingly popular with our students, and help facilitate our Part Time and Blended learners in particular by giving greater choice in how they can access their recommended texts.

Our main provider of eBooks is Dawsonera, however we also have access to online legal textbooks on, and also some further titles through our EBSCO database subscription.

For more details visit the eBooks section on the Library Moodle

We are constantly looking to update our services to meet the needs of as many of our users as possible.  We also research the latest education materials and technology and recommend the best ones to help you with your own needs.

In-Class and Workshop Labs can include:

  • Academic writing support
  • Research Skills
  • Getting the most from the Online databases
  • Referencing
  • Zotero Research Software
  • Individual one to one meetings
  • Small group labs tailored to individual requirements
  • In class demonstrations tailored to particular assignments

Many questions or issues can crop up as you are researching for a particular assignment that can be answered quickly at the library issue desk or by email. So please do bear in mind we are always happy to hear from you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help as and when you need it.

Inter Library Loans

We aim to have all your recommended textbooks available through the library. If you cannot locate a particular text please do let us know so we can address the issue as soon as possible..

There are times when you are researching a particular topic that you will look to access material not held in the library or through our online subscriptions.  If you are cannot access any material, textbook or article let us know and we can organise an inter-library loan for you.  Inter-library loan textbooks are not available to borrow but can be read at the library issue desk.
