Griffith College Announce Winner of MBA Online Scholarship

We spoke with online scholarship winner, Brian Fitzpatrick having been offered the MBA which is delivered in conjunction with Edinburgh Business School.

Tell us about yourself

I’m Brian Fitzpatrick, I’m from Howth now living in Portmarnock in North Dublin. I studied Sports and Exercise Sciences in Wales, achieving a first class honours, and completed my dissertation with the Welsh Rugby Union. I’ve previously worked in professional and international rugby as a Performance Analyst with London Irish, the IRFU’s Exiles/IQ programme and the Poland National Rugby Team. Previous to that I also worked with the Dublin Senior Hurlers in 2015, reaching the All Ireland Quarter Final.

Tell us about your enterprise

I started my business, BF Sports Analysis, back in July 2017 in England with the vision of making sports analysis efficient, effective and enjoyable. In April 2018, I happily returned to Ireland to base my business here for the long term. We work with a number of teams and organisations in Ireland and England improving how they use sports analysis. Returning to Ireland, I also took part in the Department of Forgein Affairs initiative named Back for Business.

How will this postgraduate degree benefit you?

Coming from a background in sport and starting my own business, I’ve learned a lot from experience on how to manage an organisation practically. I believe I’ll really benefit from getting a deeper understanding of how business operates and connecting with fellow business people.

How will Griffith help you in terms of professional development?

I’m looking to get a wider and deeper understanding of business in general where I can apply new learning to my business and improve the service I’m delivering to my clients.

What are your plans once you graduate?

I will continue to grow BF Sports Analysis and expand it. I’ll also be continuing my rugby coaching work alongside being open to additional projects as well.

“I feel very lucky to have been given this opportunity. I’m very thankful Griffith College and to Fora for the sponsorship of it and feel like I owe it to them, the other applicants, my family and myself to work hard and make the most of this brilliant opportunity. I’m looking forward to applying what I learn and using it to deliver a great service for my clients, giving my employees, future and current, a better leader and meeting and learning from some extraordinary people on this course.”
