Griffith College Celebrates International Women's Day 2026

On Friday, 6th March, a special coffee morning was hosted at our Dublin Main Campus to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026. The event, which was attended by staff and students, was centred around this year’s IWD theme ‘Give to Gain’ and provided the Griffith College community with an opportunity to support women and share their experiences over a cup of coffee.

The room was beautifully illuminated and decorated in purple, the colour synonymous with International Women’s Day around the world.

One of the highlights of the event was the ‘Positivity Tree’, which attendees contributed to by sharing positive messages written on paper notes and hanging them on the tree for others to feel inspired by. Some of the positive thoughts shared included “Surround yourself with people who support you, don’t compete with you, and care about you”, and “Life is too short. Choose your best life to live - be happy!”

There were a series of tables around the room, each with cakes and treats, as well as conversational prompt cards designed to encourage people to share their own experiences and facilitate meaningful conversations.

The 2026 ‘Give to Gain’ campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration and emphasises the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women's advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.

A special thank you to our Law Faculty for organising the event and creating the opportunity for our community to come together in such a meaningful way!
