THE TRILOGY: A Modern Take on Celtic Mythology
Hee Da Seo’s Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, 'THE TRILOGY,' is a remarkable showcase of fashion design inspired by Irish folklore. This collection stands out for its innovative approach reflecting the spirit of Celtic legends, specifically the powerful Raven goddess Morrigan. Designed for strong, independent women, this collection combines heritage crafts with contemporary style creating versatile looks. What makes this collection unique is its three-layer design, allowing each piece to be worn separately or layered for different styles, encouraging a sustainable and adaptable wardrobe.
Key Design Elements of THE TRILOGY
- Morrigan and Peaceful Death: The first layer features cotton jersey home wear dyed with traditional plant-based ‘woad’, a natural blue dye inspired by Ireland's ancient Neolithic patterns and organic shapes.
- Fate and Femininity: This mid-layer uses transparent organza and tulle to create a romantic and delicate look, blending black and blue tones for a soft, elegant effect.
- War and Strength: The final layer showcases vegan leather and Irish wool, with intricate smocking details representing Ireland’s rivers, and a macramé skirt symbolising the crown of Claddagh.
This thoughtful design approach highlights Hee Da’s ability to merge storytelling with sustainability, creating a collection that honours Ireland’s cultural heritage while pushing the boundaries of modern fashion.
Celebrating Tradition and Sustainability
"THE TRILOGY" is more than a fashion collection; it’s not only a tribute to Celtic mythology, but also to traditional Irish crafts and sustainable design. By reviving ancient hand dyeing techniques and using eco-friendly materials like vegan leather, handwoven textiles. Hee Da’s collection showcases her dedication to resourceful zero waste fashion. "THE TRILOGY stands out in today’s fashion industry as a fusion of creativity and sustainability.
