Martina Byrne, CEO of PRII and PRCA, shares career insights with Griffith College Journalism students

Students enrolled on Griffith College Dublin's MA and Postgraduate Diploma programmes in Public Relations and Digital Communications along with final years students on the  BA (Hons) in Communications and Media Production programme, recently welcomed Dr. Martina Byrne, CEO of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) and the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA).  

Dr. Martina Byrne has over three decades of expertise in a variety of fields, including commercial and public organisations, as well as multinational companies. The lecture was part of the PR Guest Lecture Series held by the Journalism and Media faculty. 

The PRII was established in 1953, is Ireland's main professional body for public relations practitioners. Beyond its role in advocacy, the Institute plays an important role in promoting public relations education and professional growth. The PRII also serves as the Irish PR industry's voice and is a founding member of the Global Alliance, a prestigious international collaboration of over 50 PR groups.

During the lesson, Martina shared her wealth of experience by discussing the various career paths accessible in the field of public relations, highlighting the essential skills employers are looking for. Martina also shared PRII’s most recent research findings, which provided students with invaluable industry insights.
