National Negotiation Competition Update

National Negotiation Competition Update

The Law Faculty was delighted to see students Jasmine Gerhardt and Oisin Breslin represent the college in the recent National Negotiation Competition.

The competition, which took place at the Law Society of Ireland last weekend, sees teams of two students represent opposing sides of a dispute with the intention of coming to a resolution.

Each team is presented with both general and confidential facts about the ‘client’ they are representing. Judges then assess the negotiation, the post-consultation discussions and presentations delivered by the students so they can rank the team’s performance.

Head of the Law Faculty Karen Sutton said of the event, “The International Negotiation Competition is recognised worldwide, with students from all over the world competing. We are incredibly proud of Jasmine and Oisin, who represented the Faculty at the national competition and despite never competing before, received excellent feedback from the judges!”

The International Negotiation Competition will be held in Montana, USA in July 2020.
