Three Griffith College Students to Enter 2019 Irish Fashion Innovation Awards

Three Griffith College Design students are set to enter into the 2019 Irish Fashion Innovation Awards with the hope of bringing home the winning prize for the second year in a row.

Final year BA (Hons) in Fashion Design students Yuchen Duan, Julia Siegler and Barbara Gorman were chosen by Programme Director Jane Leavey to represent Griffith.

Showcasing Fashion Students

The Irish Fashion Innovation Awards showcases the work of fashion designers and fashion students from across Ireland and has acted as the launch pad for some of Ireland’s most talented designers.

Griffith’s three finalists will be required to submit individual design proposals in response to a specific brief, with the hope of winning the prestigious Student Designer of the Year Award.

Categories Within the Awards

Speaking of her time as a Griffith student, German student Siegler said, “In semester one we had to write our own business plan and even though I never thought of myself as a business woman I enjoyed learning more about this section of the fashion business.”

Other categories, which include Fashion Designer of the Year and Accessories Designer of the year, have seen winners such as Carla Johnson, Natalie B. Coleman, Una Burke, Niamh O’Neill and Martha Lynn.

Good Luck!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish our finalists the best of luck and we look forward to seeing the winner at the award ceremony, which takes place in Dublin, this February.
