The Light House Cinema was filled with excitement on Thursday, 28th May, evening as final-year BA (Hons) Film, TV & Screen Media Production students from Griffith College screened their graduate films at the iconic Smithfield venue. Set against the backdrop of one of Dublin’s best-known independent cinemas, the evening showcased an ambitious and diverse range of films created by this year’s graduating class. Across drama, documentary, and experimental storytelling, audiences were treated to a compelling collection of original work that reflected the creativity, collaboration, and dedication of the next generation of Irish filmmakers.

This year’s graduate films included the following:

  • Evil Eye

  • Capturing Albatross

  • Gentle Threats (Goin’ Back – Part 1 and Only Way Out Is Through – Part 2)

  • The Carving

  • The House Guest

  • Full House

  • Ride or Die

The screening also featured a special documentary, The Bear and the Wildcat, a short documentary by 2025 graduate Lena Couartou and final-year student Cian Nugent.

Throughout their studies, students have gained hands-on experience across all areas of production, taking on roles in writing, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and production management. For many, the screening marked the first time seeing their work on the big screen, an important milestone as they begin their careers within the film and television industry.

We were also proud to welcome acclaimed Irish producer Julie Ryan, founder of MK1 Studios, as guest speaker for this year’s event. With more than 20 years of experience across international film and television, Julie has produced acclaimed projects for BBC, Netflix, Warner Bros., Paramount, Disney, and other leading global studios, while continuing to champion distinctive and commercially successful storytelling.
