Griffith is the fifth institution to receive accreditation from the organisation.
Griffith College is delighted to announce that two courses are now accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII). As of May 2020, the MA in Journalism and Public Relations and the Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations are two of seven courses recognised by the Institute. As the fifth institution in Ireland to receive this accreditation, Griffith is thrilled to offer professionals in the field of Public Relations a path to pursue their professional development.
Dr Robbie Smyth, Deputy Head of the Journalism and Media Communications Faculty at Griffith welcomed the PRII approval, saying that, “Griffith College is proud to join the four other universities and institutes in Ireland with this accreditation, and looks forward to developing a long term collaborative relationship with the PRII.”
“This is a critical time period for all of us in Ireland. It is one where the importance of integrity in professional communication is vital for society, businesses and government today. We have been producing media graduates in Griffith for nearly 25 years and this is an important step in the recognition of the progress the faculty has made, and the status of our alumni in industry in Ireland and internationally.”
Dr Martina Byrne, Chief Executive of PRII said, "The Public Relations Institute of Ireland is dedicated to promoting the professional practice of public relations in Ireland. We have a robust accreditation process whereby we access the public relations content of third-level courses, specifically from the point of view of employers’ needs. Having come through that process, we are pleased to add the Griffith College Masters in Journalism and Public Relations to the list of PRII accredited courses.”
