In total, 299 completed applications were submitted to the AIB Start-up Academy competition last year. Fifty-six of those businesses were then invited to submit their business plans before 20 were selected to pitch to a panel of judges.
After a gruelling judging process, 10 start-up businesses won a place in the Academy. These finalists included Griffith business graduate, Seamus Tighe and his business Everest Granola. At the end of last month the finalists started an 8-week training programme with some of Ireland’s best business minds. One winner will be chosen by a judging panel of industry experts at the end of the 8 weeks.
Everest Granola produce gourmet granola cups in three different flavours, and are high in protein and low in fat. So far the product has been selling well and are stocked in a national coffee chain and some Supervalu stores.
Best of luck to Seamus!
