Settling into College Life

tips for settling into college or university life

Welcome to all the students joining us this year! We hope you've enjoyed fresher's week. Here are a few tips for settling into college life ...

Top Tips from past students ...

  • Don’t be nervous – everyone is in the same boat – so embrace the change!
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help – people don’t mind
  • Get involved and be social
  • Keep up with your study as it’s harder to catch-up if you get behind
  • Research public transport – it’s always handy to know when the next bus is due!
  • Make packed lunches as it will help you save the pennies!
  • Try to relax and enjoy the experience

Your First Few Weeks

To make the most of your student time at Griffith College we advise you focus on the following four areas:

  • Your course – the reason you are here and the first step to achieving your chosen career
  • Your friends and social life – both important to keep you motivated
  • Your personal development – while your course is important, so are you, so look at what other opportunities and experiences are available outside of your academic studies
  • Your future employability – what could you be doing to help you get your dream job when your course is over?
