A Student's New Year's Resolutions

Being a college student can lead to you accumulating some pretty bad habits. Here’s a list of New Year's Resolutions to kick those dirty habits at the start of the new semester: 

Get Organised: 

Make sure you have a pen and paper when you go to lectures, remember that time when you and your lecturer made many moments of awkward eye contact during that hour and a half class? You just sat there, nodded and smiled while trying to look engaged with your clasped sweaty hands together on the empty desk. What made it worse? You had your bag with you, and the lecturer was probably wondering what was in it, considering YOU CLEARY DIDN’T HAVE ANY DAMN STATIONARY IN IT.

Limit the Netflix: 

Someone should put a limit on these Netflix original series; they’re like the fast food of television. I watched the whole second season of Daredevil during a weekend, and I had an assignment due that Monday. You've got to limit that stuff, man, because if you don’t have that degree then the only people that are going to be interested in what you say is the imaginary audience you’ll talk to when you break the third wall like Frank Underwood from House of Cards

Sleep:

Speaking of Netflix, try and avoid all that stuff for the sake of your sleep. Going into college with 2 to 3 hours of sleep pretty much means you're just going to catch up on it in class. Not to mention you'll look like a zombie from The Walking Dead

This time, ACTUALLY get those assignments done before they’re due!

“This semester, I’m going to get all my assignments finished the week before they are due”. 4 years on I am still speaking that fantasy and I still haven’t done it. This time, though? New me…

Stop lying to yourself  

See above…

Procrastinating:

STOP PROCRASTINATING! Seriously, look at all the above resolutions, add them all together and there’s really one answer: You are one serious procrastinator. You’re better than this, do what your parents are paying for you to do, if not for them, at least for yourself. Mainly do it so you can watch Netflix without the guilty feeling. 

And Finally… 

Eat healthily. Having 3 Chinese take-outs and one Dominos in one week is not a part of a healthy balanced diet. Between the fast food television and the literal fast food, people will soon wonder how you even were capable of getting a degree in the first place. 

All in all, your main resolution should be to enjoy your college experiences, including all those little habits you’ve picked up along the way.
