Taking the Leap from Singer to Teacher

Lisa Price

Following and embracing your passion can be a big decision but for Leinster School of Music and Drama graduate, Lisa Price it was the next logical step.

For the past 20 years, Lisa has been gigging as a singer with different cover and original bands. Her career started at the age of 15, singing with Damien Rice and Juniper, which are now Bell x1.

Throughout her career as a singer, Lisa had always felt a pull towards teaching but between gigging and starting a family the timing was never right. After completing all her singing and music theory grades, she took the leap and went back to college to study the Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education.

Returning to college was a daunting thing at first but with the constant encouragement, motivation and support from the lecturers and course tutors, I found myself as a teacher and have never been happier!

After thoroughly researching all the relevant courses, she decided the course at Leinster School of Music and Drama was the one that covered all the specialist areas that would help her become a well-rounded teacher.

The course was exactly what I needed to really gain the experience and knowledge that I needed to move into Music Teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the course and found the whole year empowering. The teachers were supportive and provided a constant source of guidance.

Lisa started her school - the Lisa Price Singing and Music School - in 2013. Since starting her school, her students have seen success after success with finalists in the Junior Eurovision Song Content, finalists on The Voice UK and semi-finalists in The Soloist 2016.
