Student Counsellor Support
What can the counselling team support with?
With a network of over 70 therapists, the team is fully trained and equipped to deal with a wide range of issues learners and residents may face, including:
- Mental health concerns (anxiety, stress, depression, etc)
- Isolation/loneliness
- Financial worries
- Legal worries
- Housing worries
- Circumstances of navigating rape, sexual assault, violence, etc
- Relationships
- Intercultural adjustments
Learners at our Dublin Main Campus can access counselling either remotely via a phone call/video call or in-person. Learners at our Cork and Limerick campuses can all access counselling either remotely via a phone call/video call. The service is free of charge for learners to access.
How can learners access counselling?
Urgent Appointments:
When you'd like to talk to someone within one hour, text the word "urgent" to 0868985666 to arrange a session. This service is available from Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 7 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, 10 AM - 10 PM.
In an emergency, always call 999 or 112.
Less Urgent Appointments:
When you'd like to speak to someone within four hours, text 0874360032 with a short description of your issue to arrange a session. This service is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 7 PM.
On Campus Appointments:
If you are a learner at our Dublin Main Campus, you can access on-campus counselling in room D017 on the ground floor of the D block. Click this link to book an on-campus appointment.
Waiting Times:
Learners will not have to wait more than a couple of days for an appointment, while emergencies will be given a consultation within 24 hours.
Emergencies:
If the counsellor deems it appropriate, they will refer on to the appropriate service, such as an ambulance or next of kin. Other agencies which can support you outside of the hours listed include the Samaritans and Text About It.

Our security team, who are on campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year can also be reached at 086 818 2370. The security team members are trained to assist and support you.
