Sheila Murphy Scholarship

Sheila Murphy

The Leinster School of Music and Drama (LSMD) at Griffith College proudly established The Sheila Murphy Music and Drama Scholarship Award in memory of the late Sheila Murphy, a former director of the school.

Originally from Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, Sheila Murphy was a beloved member of the LSMD team and was appointed director in the 1980s. Under her exemplary leadership, the school flourished, growing from 3,000 to 15,000 students across over 300 centres nationwide.

To honour the anniversary of Sheila's passing, this scholarship pays tribute to her significant contributions to the school and her enduring passion for music and drama, which spanned over five decades.

Karen Casey, Head of The LSMD Faculty, remarked, "Sheila was an inspiration to the thousands of students who passed through the doors of the Leinster School of Music & Drama. She is sorely missed, but I believe she would be pleased to know that her legacy will continue to help and inspire future music and drama students and teachers in Ireland."
