Are you a fan of traditional Irish music? Do you play a traditional instrument and are keen to know what level of competency you have achieved? Are you a music teacher who wishes to use an online examination option for your students?

The Leinster School of Music and Drama, established 1904 and Ireland’s premier music college,  is delighted to offer online exams in traditional music. The process is simple and easy to use. It is perfectly suited to musicians who for reasons of location, time or work-life balance are unable to commit to attending in person. In particular, we are aware of the large number of traditional musicians currently living abroad for whom an online examination process is very beneficial.

The first in our planned suite of online examinations for traditional music instruments will focus on the fiddle. This is fitting as the Leinster School of Music and Drama counts Arthur Darley, described by The Irish Times as ‘the greatest authority in Ireland on Irish folk music’ amongst its founding fathers.

We're delighted to be working with Tom Morley, a well-known American fiddler and traditional Irish music teacher, to grow the presence of the online exams internationally. As well as teaching fiddle on college and university campuses, Tom has a private studio where he has been teaching classical violin and fiddle styles for the past 20 years.
