The proposed redesign for the Dublin Gurdwara explores a range of community- based activities that include a public café with a communal kitchen, water sensory museum and classrooms that are community focused with incorporation of educational, cultural and wellbeing facilities. Following the successful design approaches by applying sustainability, Universal Design and Biophilia as major factors are embedded to create inclusive design strategies achieved with the application of natural materials and strategies enhancing the energy efficiency whilst reducing the environmental impact. Application of Universal Design ensures accessibility and flexible spaces to welcome mixed demographics that support community engagement and equality. The approach of Biophilic design strategies play a core role that strengthens the connections between users and the proposed dwelling by introducing maximum natural lighting, sensory water features and vegetation to the organic forms. Collaborating these strategies aims to successfully transform this building into a state-of-the-art environment that promotes calmness, healing, education and mental clarity.
