The Kevin Street Library is proposed to be transformed into a community learning and counseling center, continuing its role as a public community space while responding to current needs. The design retains the building’s original library function and reorganizes the internal library area into three functional levels to make better use of the available space.
The new layout includes two computer rooms for digital and basic skills training, two workshop spaces for floral arrangement and art/DIY activities, and two private counseling rooms providing quiet and confidential support spaces.
Additional facilities include an open reception area, staff offices, public restrooms on each floor, and basement storage, while the existing boiler function is retained.
Externally, only subtle interventions are proposed. Doors and windows will be refreshed with new finishes, while the existing structure and roof remain unchanged, preserving the building’s architectural character.
