FADÓ is an A/W 26/27 womenswear collection inspired by the regeneration of Ireland`s native boglands. It is designed with the aim of bringing attention to the growing practice of paludiculture - sustainable planting on harvested peatlands to restore their function as a carbon sink for long-term conservation. Fabrics in this collection are all environmentally sympathetic. The designer uses local Irish linen and a new plant-based innovation called BioPuff, a textile made from a species of bulrush grown through paludiculture and used as an alternative to goose down in wadded garments, ethically produced and environmentally beneficial. The palette of warm green, burgundy and natural peat is taken directly from the bioculture of the bog, while silhouettes reflect stone cottages and fireside shawls brought into shapes to suit a modern lifestyle. Handcrafted needle-felting and soft quilting celebrate old Irish mending techniques for a customer who values thoughtful design that is handmade to last.
