My practice explores a romanticised form of realism, where everyday life is heightened rather than flattened. I’m interested in reframing what may seem ordinary or strange, presenting it with warmth and beauty to encourage openness toward difference. Growing up in Sweden, I found much of its cinematic realism emotionally restrained. In In contrast, my work treats daily life as visually and emotionally expressive. In Capturing Albatross, I apply this by observing Irish culture through a foreign lens, emphasising both its Familiarity and uniqueness. Influenced by contemporary filmmakers who blur realism and stylisation, I aim to create work that invites viewers to reconsider their assumptions. I want audiences to see that Normality is relative and worth celebrating. I remain open about my process, as dialogue around perspective is central to how my work is understood.
