My name is Susan Rotich, a film and television student. Class of 2026. Over the last three years, I've had the opportunity to take on a variety of roles across multiple projects, including cinematographer, assistant director, director, and sound operator. Through these experiences, I discovered my passion for sound and chose to focus on it as my primary area of interest. This focus has deepened my understanding of how crucial sound is to storytelling and filmmaking as a whole. Working on sets and in postproduction for Ride or Die, strengthen my appreciation for the value of well captured location sound. I've also learned that high quality sound can significantly enhance film's impact. Rather than competing with visuals, sound should complement them, creating a more immersive and embodied experience for the audience. As a sound person I'm committed to capturing authentic, clear and purposeful audio that elevates the overall production.
