AutoCAD 3D Advanced


Master the art of 3D Drawing and the fundamentals of computer aided design (CAD) systems.

This advanced professional certificate course is validated by City and Guilds and aims to develop students' skills in drafting procedures to create and modify new or existing 3D objects.

Why Study AutoCAD 3D Advanced at Griffith College?

The AutoCAD 3D Advanced course runs on a part-time basis on Saturday over a 12-week period. CAD is used at all stages of the design process, from conceptualisation and production of working drawings to the production of virtual reality images and has become an essential part of the modern working environment.

  • City and Guilds AutoCAD courses are widely accepted in industry as the most recognised qualification in CAD.
  • Course covers a wide range of 3D drawings, editing commands and routines to aid the application of AutoCAD.
  • You will develop the ability to apply the drafting procedures required to create and modify existing 3D objects at any position within the 3D space.
  • Provides a perfect foundation for participants who wish to progress in the workplace.

Course details

AutoCAD 3D

  • Apply appropriate commands to set the 3D modelling environment
  • Create and use working planes at any required position/attitude within 3D space
  • Define and use co-ordinate points at any position within the 3D space
  • Apply appropriate commands to construct the whole or part of a 3D model using the best available method-surface or solid modelling
  • Apply appropriate commands to modify 3D solid objects
  • Apply appropriate commands to perform 3D operations on existing objects
  • Apply appropriate commands to view 3D model in a variety of display formats
  • Print/plot/export 3D models.

How to Apply

Entry requirements

All applicants must be a user of Microsoft Office. Participants must have completed an AutoCAD 2D course.

Mature Students 

If you are 23 years or over from the 1st January of this year, you can apply for this course directly using the College’s online application form.

Under 23 Years 

Old Leaving Cert (Pre 2017)

5 Ordinary Level D3s (subjects to include a language, English, Irish or another language) or equivalent exam taken.

New Leaving Cert

5 O6/H7 grades, to include Maths and a language (English, Irish or another language).
