Interior Architecture and Design (Level 7)
Molly Smith
For this project I have explored the readaptation and reuse of an existing building, by turning an already existing warehouse into a space for a community of small and independent enterprises from different Disciplines to co-exist and flourish. The primary objective has been to highlight the beneficial effects of how colour can transform space and how it aids in the helping of the neurodivergent brain and colour can positively effect some ones work ethic and allowing them to work just as productively as anyone else in the same space. Thus, my concept is inspired by colour and its efforts to navigate someone through the work space. The new space plan focuses on sustainability, neurodivergence and accessibility at its forefront which inspires and initiates the idea of equality within the workspace. Furthermore, multi-functionality is at the heart of the design to make all spaces as universal as possible. The design style is primarily expressive in colour, with calming notes and numerous third space elements, all of which has been carefully selected and placed due to their psychological properties.
