The goal of this project was to explore the reuse of an existing building, in order to transform the space into a new hospitality experience to suit the locality while inviting tourists into the historical town of Blessington.

Given that Ulster bank is a protected structure, an important part of this project was maintaining the integrity of the building, while creating something exciting and unique. The large foyer area at the front of the building was utilised for its size, as a restaurant and bar, while the secondary entrance along the side of the building leads to a small reception area for residents of the hotel. A proposed extension on the rear of the building allows the hallway to become compliant, while respectfully separating the “old and the new” design. The project concept explores the five senses which was experimented through the use of materials, lighting, biophilic elements and spatial planning.
